About the Role
As a junior team member of the Investment Team, the Analyst will be critical to each stage of the investment process for some of the most progressive brands and paradigm shifting companies in the space. The overall objective for the Analyst is to support the Investment Team on deal flow and managing the deal funnel and is primarily responsible for data gathering, analysis and synthesis. The Analyst is process oriented, highly analytical, has a strong attention to detail, and demonstrates curiosity and commitment to executional excellence. They are reliably self-sufficient, produce a strong work product, and recognize their need for oversight and direction. Additionally, an Analyst is learning and developing core knowledge of food + beverage investment basics, tools, and protocols that build towards a strong foundation in this space. This is a remote position that requires a self-starter, someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, and works well in a notably team-oriented atmosphere.
Requirements
An Analyst is a creative problem solver with a strong quantitative background and proven critical thinking skills.They are excellent at navigating tasks, seeking help and advice when needed, and moving from task planning through completion, effectively communicating task progress to the team.They frequently and comfortably interact with the core team and thrive as collaborative thinkers, while functioning as an independent, self-starter.Because this is a remote position, Analysts are comfortable using a variety of communication tools and methods.They should have experience in entrepreneurial environments and the flexibility to work in both highly-structured corporate settings and less-structured, start-up environments.They are comfortable reporting to and working with team members having different skill sets, areas of focus, different ways of thinking, backgrounds, and professional goals.
Bachelor’s degree from a top tier institution with a strong record of academic and extracurricular achievement
1-2 years of relevant experience in investment banking, strategic corporate development (M&A), venture capital or private equity investing, or management consulting
Analytical, creative problem solver with strong quantitative background and proven critical thinking skills
Ability to create professional PowerPoint presentations with minimal input and direction
Exceptional Excel skills, strong experience with financial analysis, due diligence, valuation, financial modeling, etc.
Experience in entrepreneurial environments and the flexibility to work in both highly structured corporate settings and less structured start-up environments
Collaborative thinker who works well in teams and is also an independent self-starter
Strong interest in the CPG or F&B space and a genuine passion for startups
Responsibilites
Support the Investment Team (all levels) with both quantitative and qualitative projects, research requests, modeling and analyses, report generation, and other investment support tasks as requested
Perform competitive and market research in categories related to potential investment themes
Conduct overarching sector research-reports of all players in a particular space or market (both established companies and new entrants)
Collect and report industry-wide deals of note (investments, M&A, IPOs, SPACs, etc.)
Conduct due diligence on prospective new investments; review dataroom, build financial models, assist with the Investment Committee decks, etc.
Tap into internal and external resources to gather due diligence information (ex: scientific advisor, industry analysts, expert network contacts, etc.)
Gather performance metrics quarterly from portfolio companies, enter the data into Kushim, and summarize it for the partners and LPs
